Author Tia Kelly Has Dropped by With A Taste…

…of Love, that is.

It’s my great pleasure to welcome Ms. Kelly to The Black’s blog to discuss her latest hot release, Taste for Love!

Tia Kelly-A Taste for Love Cover-400When a Man Loves a Woman

I’m probably crazy for coming to a man’s blog to tell his readers what happens when a man loves a woman…

Yep… I’m crazy.

Okay, maybe I am not authorized to speak on behalf of the male species and their manly love traits, but I do know one thing. I know how it feels on the other side as a woman when a man does happen to fall… and that’s the emotion that led me to Carlos and Shelly in Taste for Love. That’s what I wanted to capture in their story.

Carlos had no intention of ever falling in love, but when he did… sigh. The cool thing about Carlos falling for Shelly is she felt the same way about the ‘L’ word. Shelly was just as against it. She did seek out men to date, but love was another beast altogether… something both of these two characters had no intention of allowing into their personal space. That’s what made the dance that much sweeter for me to explore when I wrote it. I wanted to write more just to see what would happen between Carlos and Shelly… to find out if these two had it.

And I know it might be poor taste to say this about my own story, but… they do!

I can’t take credit for the chemistry between two (fictional) people. Even as an author, it’s almost impossible to pair up the perfect couple. It’s just like in real life where one never knows until it happens (or at the end of the book it really just doesn’t…). And yes, sometimes I can be the hopeless romantic chick… no seriously, I am! However I did not want the over romanticized fairy tale. I simply wanted to see what happens when a man loves a woman.

I love seeing a guy being a man’s man until that special someone comes along… then they become a pile of mush. Her pile of mush.

Here’s a peek at Taste for Love and I hope you go on to read more so you can see what happens when Carlos loves his woman.

about Taste for Love

Rochelle “Shelly” Gauthier is no stranger to loss. Hurricane Katrina taught her that in the blink of an eye, you can lose everything and everyone who matters most to you. So being cast out of the Wilkerson clan for betraying her cousin Kenneth, his fiancée Paige and their best friend Carlos only resulted in her being exactly how she always knew she would wind up anyway: alone.

Carlos Ortiz, on the other hand is alone by choice. Or so he tells himself. When Shelly makes an unexpected request for help from the Wilkersons, Carlos recalls a time when fate put him in a position where he had no choice but to accept Shelly’s assistance.

Now he must decide whether what he feels for her is a sense of obligation, or something else.

Taste for Love is the third novel from the Wilkersons in Love series.

Tia Kelly invites you to come meet the Wilkersons and get ready to fall in love.

an excerpt from ‘Taste for Love’

“Carlos? What are you doing here?”

While waiting for his answer, Shelly looked around the restaurant for anyone that resembled the man she was meeting.

Carlos sat down on the opposite end of the bench. “Felt like grabbing a bite.”

“All the way out here?”

“Where is he?” Carlos asked. His eyes roamed the few patrons at the downtown pub.

“Who?”

“Your date.” Carlos sounded annoyed, but he also looked like he was ready to pick a fight.

“How did you know?”

“Come on, let’s get you out of here.” Carlos extended a hand out toward Shelly suggesting she place hers inside of it, but she pulled back.

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m supposed to be meeting someone here.”

Glancing at his wrist, Carlos tossed out. “Yeah, a guy that’s kept you waiting for forty minutes now. Let’s go.”

“How do you know he didn’t call to say he was running late?”

“Excuses would still not be good enough, even if he did take the time to give them to you.” Carlos stood, this time reaching for her hand leaving no option for her to decline again. He wrapped her fingers in his and pulled her to standing. “And I can look in your eyes and know he didn’t bother. His loss.”

About Tia Kelly

Tia Kelly may be witty and feisty on the outside, but she is a die hard romantic at heart. She likes to bring ‘life moments… one character at a time’ in the contemporary fiction and is the author of nine books.

In addition to her love for writing, reading, playing chef in her own kitchen and traveling, Tia loves to kick back with a glass of wine and a good game on her television screen. And if it’s baseball season, you will probably hear Tia shouting the loudest (or checking out the cuties in the dugout)!

Catch me over on The Black’s blog today!

  2. Carlos and Shelly definitely have chemistry. I always find it amazing when an author is able to write characters and the chemistry just oozes off the pages from beginning to end. I enjoyed reading “Taste for Love” and look forward to more from this series.
